The 4th annual Battle the Bear Mountain Bike Challenge will take place along the Hogback Ridge in Lakewood, Colorado and at Silver Creek Mountain Bike Park in Lawson, Colorado. This event will be the third stop in the Mountain States Cup NORBA Championship Series for racers chasing the MSC yellow leaders jersey. With an exciting, unique and spectator friendly Dual Cross on Saturday, combined with a fast circuit-style cross country on Sunday, this spring weekend heats up Denver with Championship racing at its finest!
Events: Saturday May 22nd The Battle Cross kicks off the weekend with head-to-head racing at the only Dual in the Series. Spectators and racers alike will thrill themselves with big airs, berms, and intense single-elimination competition.
Sunday May 23rd Bears Cross Country Race is a fast, single-track, four-mile loop course featuring technical climbs and exciting downhills. There will be a neutral support feed zone at the end of each lap. The Start/Finish venue will be at Coyote Crossing.
Event Highlights: Spectators will enjoy the hot racing action going on both days, at either the Dual Cross or Cross Country Races. Cheer on your favorite racers from the side of the Dual Cross course on Saturday, or along the fast circuit at the neutral feed zone at the Cross Country Race on Sunday. There will be industry exposition tents with product sampling, and raffles going on throughout the weekend. Bring your cowbells or noise-makers and see what Championship Series racing is all about! Pre-Registration: Register online at ACTIVE.COM - Online pre-registration cut-off is midnight on Wednesday, May 19th. Pre-registered mail-in entries must be received by Monday, May 17th.
Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup: Dual Cross race day registration and packet pick-up will be Saturday May 22nd at Silver Creek Mountain Bike Park in Lawson, Colorado from 8:00am - 10:00am.
Cross Country race day registration and packet pick-up will be Sunday May 23rd at Bear Creek Lake Park race site (Coyote Crossing) in Lakewood, Colorado from 6:30am 1:00pm.
Racers must register AT LEAST ONE HOUR PRIOR TO START. On-site registration fee of $10 will be assessed for race-day registrations.

Bear Creek Lake Park is operated by the City of Lakewood, Colorado.
Important Norba Information: NORBA no longer offers one-day licenses. Non-NORBA members will pay an additional $5 when registering. If you are an expert level rider or higher you must purchase a year license. NORBA has broken Juniors into three categories, which include Junior Beginner, Junior Sport and Junior Expert, please register accordingly.
Battle Dual Cross Saturday May 22nd 11:00 am
Location: Take I-70 west to Downieville / Lawson exit, just west of Idaho Springs. Follow frontage road west underneath I-70. Turn left and park at Silver Creek Mountain Bike Park.
Course Description: Designed by Team Rocky Mountain Descent, this unique, two-up course featuring tabletops, doubles and banked turns will excite racers and thrill spectators. This course heralds an exciting new frontier of gravity terrain in Colorado. Come see why it received rave reviews in last years Battle.
Practice: Practice will take place from 8:00am to 10:30am. Riders must be registered and have a number plate on their bike to practice.
Riders Meeting: The mandatory meeting will take place at the top of the hill at 10:30 am.
Results / Awards: Race results will be posted at the finish area immediately following the completion of each category. Cash (pro and semi-pro) and trophies will be given 3 deep in all categories.
Bear's Cross Country Sunday May 23rd 8am - 2pm

Take C-470 to Morrison Rd exit, east to park entrance on south side of Morrison Rd. Proceed east inside park to Coyote Crossing.
Parking: There is a park entrance fee of $4. Follow parking signs to the parking area.
Course Description: It is a fast, rolling, singletrack, multi-loop course featuring technical climbs and fast downhills. There will be a neutral support feed zone at the end of each lap. The Start/Finish Venue will be at Coyote Crossing.

Results / Awards: Race results will be posted at the finish area immediately following the completion of each category. Awards ceremonies, and prize raffles also to be held at Coyote Crossing during the day as the respective categories finish. The athlete meal, courtesy of Chipotle Mexican Grill, is free to all racers, (show your bib number) and will be held during the day. Cash (pro and semi-pro) and trophies will be given 3 deep in all categories.
Warriors Cycling and Shimano Presents: Free Kids Race Sunday May 23rd 1:00 pm
A Free Kids Race will be presented for those 12 and under at the cross-country start/finish area. Classes will be determined based on the number of participants. All kids will receive a medal and a t-shirt. Kids must be accompanied by a parent and can register at the race site. All participants must wear helmets.
+ First Aid + First Aid will be located at the finish area for each event. In addition, there will be course marshals at various checkpoints on the course. Hydration fluids and food will be available at the finish area. Restroom facilities are also at the start/finish area.
