Approximately 22 mile loop, with 1,200 ft. of climbing per lap. Featuring 90% singletrack this sprawling course rolls through enchanting bluffs of high prairie and pinyon pine. You won’t remember if you’re in Pueblo, Moab or some mystical Stonehenge; but if you like smooth fast singletrack on trails with names like Outer Limits, Waterfall and Rollercoaster, then prepare to join us and light the fire!
A strong durable tire, NOT a lightweight sidewall racing tire, is strongly recommended as there is sharp shale in the canyons. Don’t be the victim of a slashed sidewall that many participants experienced last year. Tire sealant is also recommended as there is cactus on the sides of trail.
Marathon competitors will complete three loops, while Half Marathon race two and Cross-country competitors race one lap or a half lap respectively. All races will start down at Cottonwood Pavilion Expo and Staging Area with interval start and proceed up the paved park road. The finish venue will be at the South Shore Marina overflow lot across from the Arkansas Point camping area, which may or may not be open due to construction this year . This makes for a perfect venue to spend the weekend, camp at the park and enjoy a coin operated hot shower after the race.
Aid Stations
There are two aid stations on course, one at mile 15, and one at the finish. There will be 200 bottles at Aid 1 till they are gone. Jugs of Hammer Heed and water, as well as fruit, pb&J, Hammer gels are provided.
Racers may leave drop bags at the start area for transport to either Aid Station, put your number on your bag. These will be brought back to start after the race. You can also stage a tent and supplies in the Pit Zone at the finish, leave your car there if you wish and ride back to start.
