Wow, what an amazing opportunity to have a closed mountain for us to race up the sweet singletrack, burms and bridges of the Keystone Bike Park, and use the magical high alpine timberline loop known as Dercum’s hiking trail which is normally closed to biking. River Run Plaza at Keystone Resort will be the Start/Finish. See course maps on Course Info page.
Course is open for pre-riding, but not marked. Note that during operating hours, all the singletrack trails are downhill travel only, and 11-7 loop is hiking only. You may ride up service road to access the singletrack trails traveling downhill. Alternatively, before 10 am or after lifts close, you may ride all.
Event Highlights:
We are excited to be coming back to the roots of Warriors Cycling, where the Snake River Mountain Challenge was born almost 20 years ago. The race is part of the Snake River Mountain Challenge weekend featuring two days of racing and recreational riding, skills clinics, guided group rides for all ability levels, live music, yoga, kids activities, beer garden, racer lunch and more. Discounted lodging and excellent free camping on the river available. This is a weekend you won’t want to miss, and makes an affordable way to enjoy a cycling weekend with the whole family. Stay tuned as we continue to update with all the details.
Challenged dogs need your help! RME Series and OrthoPets (http://www.orthopets.com/) have partnered to ask for your non-usable mtb bike tires (not tubes). Many of you have probably seen the heartbreaking story of the ‘bionic’ dog (http://vimeo.com/51840978 - ‘tears’ alert) that went viral on the internet. This dog was abandoned, injured, lost all four of his paws and OrthoPets gave him his life back. You can’t see it on the video (see the pic), but they use old mountain bike tires as the treads for their new ‘paws’, that wear out, and constantly need to be replaced. These braces are expensive and by donating your old tires will help people take care of their remarkable best friends. We will have a box set up to drop off all of your old tires at the registration area on Friday night and Saturday before the race. This is a great way to help so many dogs, and to also recycle your non-useable tires. If you have any questions about this please contact – my dog Harlee, 10 y.o. German Shepherd also has one of these braces, they have made his life SO much better!
